Maui Scholarships & SoCal Surf Alerts
Hey Surf Snappers! Let's dive into two stories that show the heart of our community and what's happening in the lineup.
Maui's Wave of Healing
Post-wildfires, the healing continues. Mana O Maui is offering full scholarships for women affected by the 2023 Lahaina and Kula fires to attend the Women's Surf Camp in January 2026. This is more than just surf lessons—it's a week of empowerment, ocean therapy, and community. Hosted by Maui Surfer Girls, the camp includes accommodations, coaching, meals, and even community service projects. Founder Dustin Tester says it's all about helping those who lost homes or livelihoods, or who've been instrumental in the recovery. Applications are open until November 15th. You can learn more or apply right here.
SoCal Surf & Wind Advisory
Heads up, California surfers! San Luis Obispo County is under wind and surf advisories. The National Weather Service is calling for northeast winds 20-30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph from tonight until Tuesday morning. Plus, surf is building to 8-14 feet, with some sets up to 16 feet on northwest-facing coasts. That means dangerous rip currents and the potential for getting swept away. The NWS is advising to stay out of the water, especially near rocks and jetties. If you do head out, stick to guarded beaches and exercise caution. For more details, check out the advisory over at Mustang News.
Whether you're catching a wave of healing or watching the swell from the shore, the ocean has a way of connecting us. Stay stoked, stay safe, and keep those snaps coming!
