Desert Waves, Bird Flights & New CT Stop
Desert Oasis Takes the Crown
California's desert surf park is turning heads as the first wave pool to earn the "best in the world" title, AOL.com reports. The DSRT Surf oasis near Palm Desert welcomed pro surfers like Jacob "Zeke" Szekely, Rob Machado, Griffin Colapinto and Skip McCullough for a test session, where they rode everything from beginner rollers to high‑performance barrels. With Wavegarden tech generating roughly 1,000 waves per hour, the park promises endless surf‑ready conditions right in the heart of the desert.
Mid‑Coast Magic
A stunning photo from the Monterey Bay area captures cormorants soaring over Capitola Beach while a surfer waits for a wave, all beneath the silhouette of the old Moss Landing power plant. The image, shared by the Santa Cruz Sentinel, shows the perfect blend of wildlife and surf culture that photographers dream about.
Cloud 9 Joins the 2026 CT Calendar
And on the contest front, the WSL is shaking up the 2026 calendar with Cloud 9 in Siargao set to become a Championship Tour stop from October 31 to November 10, Gold Coast Magazine reveals. The Philippines Pro will serve as a reduced‑field event, giving 24 men and 16 women a chance to earn crucial ranking points before the season wraps up at Pipeline. The addition brings the tour to at least 12 events and adds a new destination for surfers chasing world titles.
