New Wavegarden Pool in California
California just got its second Wavegarden wave pool, this time in the desert town of Coachella Valley at DSRT Surf. The facility promises 1,000 waves per hour and a catalog of more than 60 world‑class waves, including a dedicated "Twister" barrel and aerial‑training sections that pump out 30‑second air‑friendly ramps. "I never imagined testing aerial waves in the middle of the desert," said Jacob "Zeke" Szekely, highlighting the pool's variety. John Luff of Beach Street Holdings added, "This facility is an absolute machine for making people happy," noting the impressive barrel that gives surfers time to breathe. Beach Safety Boost for California
While the waves are getting bigger in the desert, California’s ocean beaches are warning of hazardous conditions. Lifeguards in Carmel‑by‑the‑Sea and elsewhere are urging visitors to stay off rocks, keep a close eye on kids, and never turn their backs to the surf, citing sneaker waves and strong rip currents. The National Weather Service has issued warnings, and free life‑jacket stations are being rolled out to improve safety.
