California Got a New Surf Spot and a Dangerous Surf Warning
The ocean just gave us two very different kinds of news, and both are very California.
First, Wavegarden is celebrating the opening of DSRT Surf in Coachella Valley, its second U.S. wave pool. The Spanish tech company says the pool can produce 1,000 waves an hour and offers a definitive catalogue of more than 60 world-class waves. It has aerials, turns, and a barreling wave called the Twister. Jacob 'Zeke' Szekely said it is the best wave pool in the world. Sessions were expected to start at $60 an hour, though an exact opening date was still pending. You can read the full story over at The Inertia.
Respect the Ocean, Even When It Looks Fun
Meanwhile, state lifeguards in California are warning beachgoers about hazardous surf, including sneaker waves and strong rip currents. They announced free life jacket stations. Joe Stoffers, a state lifeguard, said people not understanding conditions can be in danger. Lifeguards advise staying off rocks, watching children, and never turning your back on the ocean. As reported by Channel 3000, the message is simple: the beach is wild.
So whether you are chasing a new wave pool or heading to the coast, the vibe is the same. The waves can be glassy, the pools can be perfect, but the ocean still writes the rules. Stay safe, get stoked, and keep your eyes on the lineup.
