The short answer: search Surf Snaps Explore by sport, location and date. Every gallery is tagged with those three things, so you can find photos of your race without knowing who took them.
How to find your race photos in four steps
- Open Surf Snaps Explore. You do not need an account to browse.
- Choose the sport, for example running or cycling.
- Enter the location. This can be a venue, a city or a state, such as Central Park, New York or a street on the course.
- Set the date of your race, then open the galleries that come back.
Why searching by photographer name usually fails
After a race, most runners have no idea who was standing along the course with a camera. Searching a name or a social account does not help, because you do not have one. Event-based search flips the problem: you search by where you were and when, and the galleries from every photographer who covered that day come back together.
What to enter if you are not sure
- Location: start broad with the city or state, then narrow to the venue or street.
- Date: use the race date. Check back in the days after, because photographers upload on their own schedule.
- Sport: pick the sport you took part in. Surf Snaps welcomes photos from any sport.
If nothing comes up yet
- Check again tomorrow and over the next few days. Some galleries go up the same evening, others later.
- Widen the location from a venue to the city or state.
- Ask friends or family where they stood, then search that street or area.
- Look at photographer profiles, since some photographers take bookings for your next race.
How to spot yourself
Open a gallery and scroll. Previews are watermarked but shown full size on screen, so you can confirm it is you before you pay. Look for your shoes, your shirt, your bib number and the people around you. If you know roughly when you passed a spot, look at photos taken near that time.
How buying works
You need an account to add photos to your cart. Photographers set their own price per photo, and photos start from $8. You pay per photo by card, with no packages or minimums. After payment clears, the watermark is removed and you can download the full-resolution file, which stays in My Purchases. For more on the process, see the athlete walkthrough and the FAQ.
If you are a photographer
Runners are searching for you. Upload your race set to Surf Snaps with the sport, place and date and they can find it. Joining and uploading are free, there is no storage bill, and the Surf Snaps fee of up to 10% only applies when a photo sells and can be passed on to the customer. Check the race organizer's media policy before you list race photos for sale.
