Where Can I Find Surf Photos of Myself After a Session?

The short answer: search Surf Snaps Explore by surfing, the beach or break, and the date. If a photographer shot your session and uploaded it, the gallery will come back, and you can buy and download your photos.

How to find your surf photos

  1. Open Explore. You can browse without an account.
  2. Choose surfing as the sport.
  3. Enter the location: the break, the beach, the city or the state.
  4. Set the date you surfed and open the galleries.
  5. Scroll for your board, your wetsuit, your stance and the wave.

Questions surfers ask

  • Someone was shooting at the beach. How do I find the photos? You do not need their name. Search the break and the date.
  • How do I find photos from this morning? Search today's date. Photographers often upload the same day or within a few days.
  • What if the break has a nickname? Try the beach name, the nearest town or the state.
  • Can I find photos from a surf trip? Yes, as long as a photographer uploaded that session. Search the place and the dates you surfed.

Tips for matching yourself in a gallery

  • Note the time you paddled out. Sessions are often organized by time of day, such as a morning or dawn patrol session.
  • Look for your board color, wetsuit and rash guard.
  • Use the tide and swell of the day to narrow it down. Photographers often shoot the same session for a couple of hours.
  • Ask the photographer. If you saw someone on the beach, their profile may help you find their other galleries.

How buying works

Previews are watermarked but full size on screen, so you can be sure it is you. Add the photos you want to your cart. You need an account to buy. Photographers set their own price per photo, and photos start from $8. After payment, the watermark is removed and the full-resolution file is available in My Purchases. The file is good enough to print, and you can post it or share it with friends.

Book a photographer next time

If you want a session covered, look at photographer profiles. Some take bookings, with a rate and open hours on their profile, and every request needs the photographer's confirmation. Surf Snaps takes no share of bookings.

If you are a surf photographer

Surfers cannot find your photos if they cannot search for them. Upload your session to Surf Snaps with the break, the date and a price per photo. Joining and uploading are free, there is no storage bill and the Surf Snaps fee of up to 10% only applies when a photo sells. You can pass it on to the customer, and you keep the copyright.
